Techniques Used
To GROW model
An effective coaching style to approach questions about career is the GROW Coaching model. This 4 step based model stands for Goal – Reality – Options – Will. A useful metaphor to explain the model is if you were to plan to make a trip. Jou start with the map: where are we going to (Goal), the next step would be to determine where you are at (Reality). Then you look at the different routes you could take to get there (Options). Finally, you choose one, and make sure your motivation is where it should be, and you are ready to deal with any obstacles you’ll meet upon your journey (Will).
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Developed within a coherent theoretical and philosophical framework, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behaviour change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility means contacting the present moment fully as a conscious human being, and based on what the situation affords, changing or persisting in behaviour in the service of chosen values.
Based on Relational Frame Theory, ACT illuminates the ways that language can entangle you into futile attempts to wage war against your own inner lives. Through metaphor, paradox, and experiential exercises you can learn how to make healthy contact with thoughts, feelings, memories, and physical sensations that have been feared and avoided. You can gain the skills to recontextualize and accept these private events, develop greater clarity about personal values, and commit to needed behaviour change.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a psychological treatment approach that follows the problems of an individual as concretely and closely as possible. The effectiveness of CBT has been proven in scientific research. Treatment protocols are complaint and problem-based and are generally short-term. It mainly concerns difficulties that arise in your current situation, and not so much problems that existed in the past. In our coaching and psychological guidance we will make use of techniques derived from CBT.
